Exploring Washington’s Olympic Peninsula

You may be wondering, wait… Melissa… You left California and the first place you explored was Washington? What about Oregon?

I hear you. Oregon is beautiful in its own right and we’ve had the honor to spend a lot of time exploring this state. I did, however, go into the Souther Oregon extension office to chat about farms in the area and when I proposed what we were up to, I had an abrupt response of “Go where there is water!” Dry farming with a wildfire smokey season is becoming the new norm in Souther Oregon. I have by no means crossed this area off our list (rainwater harvesting could be a potential to look at if this becomes home), yet we’ve spent little time in Northern Washington and decided it was the perfect time to do so.

The Olympic Peninsula is stunning, peaceful, and in many places, felt like going back in time. Justin, Meru, and I lucked out with gorgeous weather for hikes and spent our afternoons swimming in crystal blue lakes. Check out the journey in our video above!

Stay tuned! Coming up next, I’ll share about a farm we visited in Port Angeles & how we celebrated Justin turning the big 4-0!

Smiles,

Melissa
